My name is Jessica. I grew up in Stockton, California, and I am twenty years old. Every since I was young, I dreamed about growing up and going to a great school. When I graduated from high school, my dreams were crushed. I couldn’t get into any state schools, because of my SAT scores, they were awful! My counselors, parents, and friends kept telling me that I would have to go to a junior college first. I was upset, but then I relized that this allowed me to change my major three times and saved my parents a lot of money. I am a transfer student from Cuesta College, in San Luis Obispo. This is my first semester at California State University Chico, and I couldn’t be happier. My major is communication sciences and disorders and I am a minor in child development. I haven’t yet started my program, but I am very excited to get on track. I can’t wait to get on with the program and start helping children who need my help. I want to help children who have communication problems, so they can learn to speak more clearly. I am taking this class for my general educational theme. I decided to take this class because, I have always been interested in all different cultural backgrounds that are displayed around the world like Chinese, Japanese and Mexican. Since, I come from a Lebanese family, I have a tendency to accept different cultures easier. In my family, we speak Lebanese-Arabic, we eat Middle Eastern food, and we are very close to each other. Everyone in my family lives no more then ten miles away from each other. I am extremely eager to learn what different cultures do in their family environments. I am excited to see what this class has in store for the next fifteen weeks
